HIP & GROIN PAIN

While you might associate hip pain with the elderly, it can actually strike all ages. Injuries to the hip and groin are quite common in recreational activities, sports and in the workplace. The hip can be a difficult area to assess and treat due to its close relationship with the lower back and pelvis.

What causes hip pain?

As the hip is connected to nearly every main muscle in the lower body it is no surprise that they can often feel tight or sore.

Some common causes of hip and groin pain include:

  • Direct Trauma (e.g. Motor vehicle accidents or sporting injuries etc)

  • Poor Lifting technique

  • Falls

  • Limitations in range of motion

  • Imbalances in muscles of the area

  • Prolonged hip use without adequate breaks

  • Muscle weakness

At Motus Health we treat many injuries, both acute and chronic, relating to the hip and groin region. Below is a list of some of the more common injuries and conditions we see:

  • Groin / Adductor Muscle Strain and Tendinopathy

  • Hip Osteoarthritis

  • Bursitis

  • Hamstring Muscle Tendinopathy, strain or tear

  • Gluteal Tendon Tears

  • Hip Impingement

  • Hip Flexor Muscle strain

  • Hip Instability

At Motus health we strongly believe that a preventative approach which involves strengthening your hips is the most effective solution. We approach the root of the problem, not just the symptoms. Our personalised treatments often include a combination of manual therapy, as well as strengthening and stretching exercises.
