What is myotherapy?
A Myotherapist is involved in assessing, treating and helping to manage pain and tension associated with various musculoskeletal conditions. Using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and pathology, treatment will aim to reduce pain, normalise sensation and help optimise movement and function.
Common conditions treated with myotherapy:
Back pain
Shoulder pain
Neck pain
Headaches
Hip pain
Knee pain
Foot and ankle pain
Hand and elbow pain
Overuse or sports injuries
Tension associated with stress and anxiety
Pain associated with conditions such as fibromyalgia
Myotherapy treatment may include:
Hands-on treatment (including remedial massage and mobilisation)
Dry needling
Myofascial cupping
Exercise prescription and rehabilitation
